Submit to ISSME

Do you have an idea, an experience, a case study or a position paper on the SME sector which you want to share with the rest of the world?

ISSME provides you the perfect platform through its range of publications.

You are welcome to submit papers and manuscripts to be considered for publication by ISSME. To do this, you will need to create yourself an author account, follow a checklist and adhere to some simple yet stringent guidelines.

Here’s the basic checklist you should follow before you send in your submission:

  • It should be original and not have been published earlier in the same form or one which is substantially similar to guard against copyright violations. Please see ISSME's copyright Guidelines below for more information.
  • Please do not send us manuscripts which you have also submitted for publication elsewhere. Duplication, should it take place, will mean that you will be blacklisted by ISSME and its members, partners and affiliates worldwide.
  • Files should be between 2,500 and 5,000 words with a title not exceeding six to eight words.
  • They should be submitted as MS Word documents in .doc or .docx format with 1.5 line spacing and 12 point font size. All submissions should be accompanied by clear electronic copies of all figures and tables whenever these are used.
  • Author details, including current and past affiliation, must be uploaded in a separate title page file and not in the main paper.
  • It should mention references, attributions and resources clearly.

Do classify your submission (i.e. Research, Case Study, Viewpoint, Review, etc as the case may be) to help us slot it in a suitable publication to ensure the best reach for you.

Review process

Each submission is reviewed by the Editor and the Editorial Board, which includes at least two SME experts, as part of a thorough review process to ensure originality and relevance. This process decides whether a submission is accepted or rejected. In some cases, ISSME may ask for, and carry out, suitable revisions to meet its publication guidelines and standards.

ISSME's Copyright Guidelines

The authors give a warranty that there is no breach of copyright in their submission. ISSME’s review process takes a close look at the manuscript to guard against possible copyright violations. In fact, it expects authors to indemnify it against a breach of the copyright warranty they furnish prior to publication.

ISSME’s Editors may make use of iThenticate software and the organization’s extensive internal database for checking if the submissions received are original in order to ensure that its stringent guidelines on copyright have been complied with.

This includes guarding against verbatim copying, paraphrasing and self-plagiarism for work that has been published partly or in full earlier.

Articles submitted to the ISSME journals should not have been published before in their current or substantially similar form, or be under consideration for publication with another journal. Please see Originality Guidelines for details.

Do take necessary permissions

The World Wide Web is a great source of information. But Authors should not assume that any content which is freely available on the web is free to use. Please check the website you use for information for details of the copyright holder and seek permission for re-use before sending in a submission to us.

Prior to article submission, authors should have clear permission to use any content that has not been created by them.

In line with global publishing standards, ISSME has a set of expectations which include:

  • Non-exclusive rights to reproduce the material submitted and rights to use the material without a time limitation.
  • Print and electronic rights.
  • Worldwide English language rights.
