In an age of information abundance it is critical to help users to distinguish quality verified information from everything else. ISSME is committed to supporting robust peer review and ethical standards in publishing and as such we work to educate researchers, authors, contributors, reviewers, and editors on understanding and delivering those standards, in partnership with others. Our Best Practice Guidelines on Publishing Ethics provides guidance, resources, and practical advice on ethical concerns that arise in both academic and non-academic publishing for editors, authors, researchers and other audiences.

COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) provides advice to editors and publishers on all aspects of publication ethics and, in particular, how to handle cases of research and publication misconduct. It also provides a forum for its members to discuss individual cases and encourages editors to ensure that cases are investigated by the appropriate authorities (usually a research institution or employer). All COPE members, including Wiley, follow the Code of Conduct for Journal Editors.
CrossCheck is an initiative started by CrossRef to help its members actively engage in efforts to prevent scholarly and professional plagiarism. CrossCheck provides a continuously growing database of current and archival scholarly literature to screen against and a tool which compares authored work against the content in the database, highlighting matching or similar text for further editorial review.
