There is no denying of the fact that information is now available at a click of mouse due to the rapid advancements taken place in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Any information a person needs can get it through World Wide Web. But the information that are available online are more in scattered manner and even if the available information educates one about something, different versions of opinion about the same thing confuses the person to some extent. While talking of taking a serious business decision through available information, sometimes it becomes difficult for the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) owner due to varied information about something. Hence, information needs to be put in a structured manner so that it is useful for the SMEs.
We understand this problem and that is why we have thought of creating this section. This section is dedicated to bring at one place all the important information about SMEs in all the countries across the globe. It is a one-stop referral point wherein one can get an overview of SMEs world over. This is ISSME’s greatest contribution to the world SME community. Not only for existing SMEs of the world, but the prospective entrepreneurs, SME support institutions and other stakeholders of SMEs could take advantage of this platform and use it for their benefit.
This section covers definition, place and contribution of SMEs in a particular country, vision of the country’s government towards SME development, the kind of laws and enactments that are there to control SMEs, the ongoing schemes and programmes devised by the governments of that country towards empowering SMEs, latest & useful literatures on SME sector of that country, what is country’s global positioning in terms of ease of doing business, public and private efforts that are being made towards SME development, country’s engagement in international trade with major traded products/commodities/services, barriers to SME development on country level, level of ICT penetration among SMEs, approach towards skill development, measures towards making SMEs’ access to adequate finance, initiatives taken by the country towards enhancing trade, support agencies active in promoting SMEs both in public and private spheres, etc.
This is a section that has been created and constantly updated with the information that we receive from our affiliates and change agents across the globe. Doing such a big task certainly needs your help without which it is quite impossible to keep this section more live and up-to-date. ISSME, therefore, seeks your help and support in terms of sending useful/ updated/ missing information against your country to us. A small piece of information matters and please don’t wait for anyone else to do. Remember, the more the SMEs will be promoted and supported to be successful ventures, more is the chance to move our world out of poverty, hunger and unemployment.
