The Governing Board is the supreme executive agency of ISSME. The affairs of ISSME are managed, administered, directed and controlled by the Governing Board in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Society. It has the power to manage and superintend the affairs of ISSME and acts in the name of ISSME. It takes all appropriate decisions and actions for implementation of the policy decisions of the Council and exercises budgetary controls. All movable and immovable properties of the Society vest in the Governing Board.
While the maximum strength of the Governing Board is 28, including the maximum of six members representing Founder Members, the minimum strength is 10. The full Governing Board shall consist of the 01 President, 10 Vice presidents, 16 members, and the Secretary General. The Governing Board meets at least twice a year. The meeting is presided over by the President and, in his absence, by one of the Vice Presidents preferably from the region in which the meeting is being held.
The Governing Board appoints a Secretary General for a period of five years. The Office Bearers of the Society shall be the President, Vice-Presidents, and Secretary General. ISSME has members from different countries in its International Governing Board, each of whom brings a unique set of professional and personal skills to the team. The Board, on the suggestions of Affiliates designated as Honorary Representatives and Advisors, determines the policies and strategy plan of ISSME.

Born in Nepal in 1965, Mr. Surendra Bir Malakar is a businessman and a well-known industry leader in Kathmandu, Nepal. He is currently the President of Nepal Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Secretary General of International Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Secretary General of National Business Initiative. He is also the Immediate Past President of Nepal Chamber of Commerce. As an industry leader, Mr. Malakar is engaged in Chamber movement of Nepal since past 3 decades in various roles of executive member, secretary general, vice president and president of various industry associations in Nepal.
Mr. Nawaz Rajabdeen is currently the National Director, UNIDO Focal Point in Sri Lanka since 2007; President of Association of Bamboo Growers & Industry, Sri Lanka and Director, Sri Lanka Export Development Board. Mr. Rajabdeen is a veteran businessman, industrialist and chamber leader. He is also the former President of FCCISL, Sri Lanka; Vice President of SAARC Chamber of Commerce; Director of Insurance Board of Sri Lanka; Director of Sri Lanka Standards Institute; and Chairman, Hotel Developers PLC, owning company of the Colombo Hilton. Prior to joining ISSME, he served as the Chairman of Industrial Development Board of Sri Lanka. He is also the Chairman and Founder of Rajabdeen & Sons Ltd a Company established in 1984 dealing in Hardware, Sanitaryware, Hotel Supplies, Building Materials, Garden Equipment and other allied products. Mr. Rajabdeen revolutionized trade chamber movement in Sri Lanka and has played a stellar role in uplifting the SMEs in Sri Lanka and industrial development.
Mr. Sunil D Sharma, born in 1977, is currently the Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer of ISSME. He played the leading role in the establishment of ISSME. An MBA and a Postgraduate in Sociology, Mr. Sharma is a knowledgeable and multi-faceted personality and is well versed with the working, management, applicable laws and rules & regulations of both national as well as international Non-Government Organisations. An energetic and dynamic personality, Mr. Sharma has participated in number of local, national, regional, and international conferences as well as concerned UN agencies programmes and other events throughout the globe on SME related issues.Ever since he took up the reins of ISSME as Secretary General in 2011, Mr. Sharma fine-tuned its activities to meet SMEs’ varied new demands emanating from emerging world economic scenario. He has sought to give voice to the world’s small business community. He has over 15 years of experience in studying the development as well as industrial sector, particularly the issues related to small business development, identifying business opportunities and articulating the concerns and interest of SMEs at different forums. Prior to his association in ISSME, he had gained extensive experiences by working with private sector, industry association, and international non-governmental organisations at senior positions and gained hands on experience in promoting and development of SMEs. He has extensive knowledge and practical experience in setting up units based on alternate and environment-friendly technologies, use of ICT tools, etc. He has widely travelled within India and visited several countries on official business like United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, Romania, Austria, Ireland, Turkey, UAE, Korea, Swaziland, Botswana, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Hungary, Germany, etc.
Mr. Siddhartha Mishra is the co-founder of ISSME and holds the post of Chief Operating Officer. He has deep rooted understanding about the issues and concerns of MSMEs as well as role of industry associations in addressing the same and has the core skill of making optimal and effective use of all the resources and cutting-edge ICT tools in order to enhance international profile and reach of the organisation and operationalise the planned activities. He has extensively worked with national governments, industry associations, UN agencies and international organizations, entrepreneurs, banks and financial institutions and other stakeholders in the area of SME development. For the past 15 years, he has been instrumental in planning and strategizing, administration, research studies for SMEs, organizing international conferences and other events, training programmes for SMEs, bringing out publications, coordination with international SME stakeholders, policy lobbying for SMEs, facilitating SMEs in international networking and building new contacts as well as in enhancing international trade, etc. As a young SME expert, he was associated with three research studies on SMEs, has spoken at some SME events and provided his valuable inputs on several projects undertaken by SME support institutions in some of the African and east Asian countries. As the COO of ISSME, he is responsible for spearheading the activities of the organization in various countries and establishing strategic alliances with similar organizations. Prior to this, he was heading the activities of an international NGO working on similar lines.
Mr. Dheeraj Kumar is one of the founding members of ISSME and plays the role of a key functionary of the organisation. He has already worked in several NGOs and understands the development sector well. During his past association with NGOs, he had taken several initiatives at grass-roots level in creating Self-Help Groups and find their voice in local and national government. Mr. Kumar has participated in a number of camps and conferences. Mr. Kumar believes that sustainable growth and development of SMEs is an effective tool in addressing the twin problems of unemployment and elevating poverty. Mr. Kumar possesses a great insight and is extremely knowledgeable regarding Business Process, Productivity and Management. He is an experienced Project Analyst and has a great ability to understand and convey the needs of the people.
