The Council elects the President (01) and Vice-Presidents (10) for a period of two years commencing on 1st April every alternate year. There is a provision for 10 Vice Presidents representing eight different geographical regions such as Asia; Africa; Europe; Latin America and Caribbean; Middle East; North America; Oceania; and CIS. None of the office-bearers will hold office for more than two terms consecutively.
The Council shall review the progress achieved towards realisation of the society’s objectives and issue such directives as it may consider appropriate to the Governing Board and the Secretariat. The Council may also periodically review the development in various sectors in different countries and suggest appropriate policy measures for strengthening them.
