APBF 2014 was organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in collaboration with the Sri Lankan Board of Investment, Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry in Sri Lanka, National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and Ceylon Chamber of Commerce in Colombo, Sri Lanka during November 25-27, 2014. This year’s Forum discussed the theme “Enhancing Regional Business Sustainability and Investment”.
APBF is an important dialogue and networking event held each year in Asia and the Pacific. The Forum facilitates exchanges between high-level professionals in the private and public sectors. Participants discuss pressing issues regarding governance, economic development, regional integration, trade and investment, corporate sustainability, disaster risk resilience and other key subjects. The multi-stakeholder setting engages policy-makers, business representatives, international agencies, civil society organizations and academics.
ISSME promoted the event as an international partner and facilitated participation of some delegates from Asia-Pacific region to the event. At the invitation of UNESCAP, ISSME Secretary General, Mr. Sunil D Sharma and COO, Mr. Siddhartha Mishra participated in the event and deliberated on measures for SMEs to grow sustainably. Apart from participation in this event, they called on several senior leaders from different countries in Asia-Pacific to further ISSME activities towards promoting SMEs in their respective countries.
